KenIchi: The Mightiest Disciple follows Kenichi Shirahama, a shy high school student who accidentally startles Miu Furinji, causing her to throw him to the ground. After they become friends, Kenichi learns he must fight a club member or be kicked out. Worried about losing, he sees Miu easily defeat three bullies and asks her for help. Miu takes him to her grandfather’s dojo, where he trains with some unusual martial arts teachers. She warns him that he must survive the tough training to get stronger. As Kenichi trains, he also faces a dangerous gang called “Ragnarok,” which challenges him to become a skilled fighter and protector of others.
